The Repairs That Actually Pay

  • Small Engines: E10 gas gums up the carburetor on mowers, pressure washers, snow blowers and generators. A carb cleaning or rebuild kit, plug, air filter and fresh oil fix most of them; store with stabilizer.

Season, Climate and an Honest Listing

Climate decides what breaks: road salt in the Northeast and Midwest, damp and mold on the Gulf Coast and Southeast, brittle rubber in the Southwest.

  • Buy Against the Season: a dead snow blower costs almost nothing in spring; fix it over the summer, list it in fall before the first storm. Buy mowers and pressure washers in fall, generators before hurricane season (June to November).

Call it refurbished, never new: what you replaced, when, what is still worn. Dated before-and-after photos and the serial number are your evidence in a dispute. As a rule, daily rates are not haggled over; only an expensive sale invites negotiation, and your repair history justifies the price.
